PANDORA UNLEASHED was a project that aimed to create, develop and produce a new play inspired by Greek Myths and informed by seed input from secondary school pupils. Taking well known stories from the ancient world and re-imagine them giving voice and agency to characters who are forgotten or marginalised. Developing a form of participant lead theatre where the audience lead the performance. The students will attend a workshop where they will explore the source material and then the final plays will be performed in a school assembly.
In workshops we explored the character of Pandora who infamously opened a box that let evil into the world. However there is more to this story than the one you have heard before…
This was a collaboration between myself and researcher Dr Oonagh Pennington-Wilson. PANDORA UNLEASHED ran from May – July 2019 and was kindly supported by the University of Birmingham Public Engagement with Research Fund.
PANDORA UNLEASHED was first performed in July 2019, Pandora was played by Charis McRoberts.
